In 2005 Sebastian Kopp and Ghislain Morillion founded Veja, a company that produces sustainable sneakers.
Why is Veja sustainable?
Veja uses only ecological materials, such as recycled plastic, rubber from Amazonian’s tappers cooperatives and organic cotton.
More information about transparency, fairtrade and materials used can be found here.
What does Veja mean?
The name of the company itself summarizes their mission: in fact, “Veja” means “look” in Portuguese, precisely because the founders wanted people to start “looking (around)” and become aware of the things they buy.
Veja Esplar 3 Lock (with velcro)
The minimal and clean design makes Veja sneakers timeless, meaning that you can wear them year after year without feeling out of trend. There are a lot of models, with and without laces, perfect for all seasons!
I bought the Veja 3 Lock: super light, don’t make your feet sweat and they look super cool with velcro straps.
What size? Do Veja sneakers stretch?
They are true to size. You may feel uncomfortable the first time you wear Veja trainers because the tongue of the shoes is hard at first, however, they stretch in time.
Where can you buy Veja sneakers?
You can find these sneakers on the official store, Zalando and other stores.
This year the fashion industry has been taking steps towards a more sustainable future and I, as a consumer, have a growing acknowledgement of the impact of my shopping choices:
let’s try to shop smarter, lesser and better.
Among the ton of actions you can take in your daily life to reduce your impact on the earth:
- use washable cloths to remove your makeup
- make your jumpers last longer with this tool to remove bobbles and make them seem brand new.
