In October 2023, Pupa made its debut in the haircare world. For many millennials, the brand is a nostalgic throwback to the playful red makeup sets we used to get for Christmas in the early 2000s.
Do you remembers these? They were so iconic that the brand decided to recreate one of them and re-selling it under the name of #BackTo2000!
Anyways, I was suprised by the three ranges they brought out: Glow Essence, Styling Boost and Smog No More. Later they added a range called Color Safe, which protects color treated hair.
I tried the first three, thanks to a PR package sent by Pupa, but there has been only two products that have truly stood out in the last two years, both from the Glow Essence range: the Illuminating Mask and the Spray to enhance shine.
Pupa Illuminating Mask
Formula and benefits
Formulated with coconut oil (hello, soothing properties) and argan oil, the Pupa Illuminating Mask nourishes your hair and restore the so-called “hydro-lipidic” balance of the scalp.
But what makes it different from similar products? To me, they all leave your hair soft, but this makes the styling so much easier. After using it, my hair is already “spaghetti” straight and my straightener glides through effortlessly.
Application
I usually apply it once a week after washing my hair, leaving it on for 30 minutes. However, it can also be used as a quick 3-minute conditioner.
Fragrance
Also, I’m not a fan of scented products, whatever they are (creams, serums etc.) but I have to admit, the Glow Essence range got it right. The fragrance have a sweet but not sickly smell, with a fresh “touch of summer”. Don’t think about the typical coconut scent; it’s very different from the Hawaian Tropic Sun Lotion!
Pupa Glow Spray
I love the smell so much that it’s actually the main reason I’ve used the Glow Spray for this long. I’m not sure if it makes a real difference in terms of hair shine, but when I have an important meeting or date, I usually spray it. It definitely adds that extra touch!
Where to buy
If you’re ever visiting Italy, make sure to pop int Douglas, Pinalli or Caddy’s. You can find both Pupa’s products there at less than 10€!
