The brand
Francesca Neri founded Frenzlauer in 2013. This brand produces bags “playing between elementary geometries and careful construction”.
That kind of beauty you notice but it’s not loud.
As I told you in the blog post “Capsule wardrobe: the complete guide”, I like minimal, well-crafted bags without giant logos that scream “I paid this hundreds of euros”; and both the Flyer and Mini Swing tick off all the boxes.
The bag: Frenzlauer Flyer
Measurements
The size of the Frenzlauer Flyer is small-medium: you can fit a digital camera but not a pint of water for instance.
- Height: 16 cm
- Width: 21 cm
- Depth: 8 cm
- Strap Length: 105cm – 125 cm
Leather
The bag is entirely made of 100% Italian leather. Even the inside is made of leather, colour coated in a lovely pastel pink shade.
While I was browsing for opinions online, most of the people were saying how incredibly good their Frenzlauer’s bags still look after years of daily use. No ruined corners. No broken straps. No scratches. This is what I wanted to hear!
Personally, I am interested in pieces that will last me for the longest time possible, especially at this price point.
What does fit inside the Frenzlauer Flyer?
I was looking for a bag that was bigger than my RSVP Paris clutch bag and could fit a few more things than my Coccinelle’s Coralie. If I had to carry a huge amount of stuff, I’d use the Fjallaraven Kanken, so I was really missing a size halfway.
After lusting over this bag for about two years and seeing an increase in price (two years ago it was 315€) I gave in and bought it. No regrets! It fits exactly what I wanted it to fit: iPhone, home keys, office keys, earphones, a cardholder, tissues, a lip balm and my sunglasses’ case.
I must say that also the Coccinelle’s Coralie fits almost all these things too BUT it looks really packed and it’s no fun looking for things inside. The Frenzlauer Flyer keeps its shape amazingly and has a bit more room.
If it’s not enough for you, you can check out the Frenzlauer Flyer II, way bigger but still cute.
How much does it cost?
The Frenzlauer Flyer costs 390€ (+ free shipping) however in some websites, such as Farfetch, the price is higher (420€ + shipping). Cotton dustbag included.
The bag: Frenzlauer Mini Swing
Measurements
This bag is definitely smaller than the Frenzlauer Flyer, although it has a small pocket and a frontal compartment!
- Height: 12 cm
- Width: 22 cm
- Depth: 6 cm
- Strap Length: 105cm – 125 cm
Leather
The Italian leather inside is colour coated here too but in a cream colour. Talking about its material, I’ve recently read the following tweet:
“I was sitting at a restaurant with my Frenzlauer. A friend of mine, who works in a Tuscan tannery that supplies Chanel, noticed my bag and asked me where it came from. I told him. He complimented me and he couldn’t believe its price tag. <This is the leather that we provide for bags over 3000 euros> he told me.” – @RHCPepper2
Further proof of the quality of Frenzlauer’s bags!
What does fit inside the Frenzlauer Mini Swing?
For most people, this is a so-called “evening bag”. For minimalist people like me, it is great for the day time too! The only things I really need to always carry with me are my iPhone, a cardholder, keys and a few tissues.
Neither my kindle nor a pair of sunglasses can fit in for example.
How much does it cost?
The Frenzlauer Mini Swing costs 390€ with the official dust bag included of course.
Where can you buy Frenzlauer’s bags?
Online, these bags are available on the official website, Luisaviaroma and Farfetch. You can look at the full list of stockists in-store in Italy and around the world here.
Overall, I am very satisfied with these purchases. They really feel well made and the premium Made in Italy quality really shows!
