Estrid has arrived in Italy! Can you feel my excitement? For those who don’t know, Estrid is a Swedish brand that produces vegan razors. If it doesn’t sound cool enough, there is more: they run on a subscription-based model.
How does the subscription work?
You order the “Starter Kit” that includes:
- a steel handle
- a wall mount
- 2 razor blades
and select the frequency: how often do you want new blades? Every 60, 90, or 120 days? You decide and Estrid will deliver 4 blades right to your front door at that time!
The payment will be made automatically through the payment method you selected.
The Starter Kit
As a libra, aesthetic counts! To me, the shape and colour of Estrid’s razors are one of the main selling factors. I went for the Peach colour, but there are also the colours Bloom (a pastel pink), Cloud (a light grey), Space (a lilac-blue), and Lemonade (a pastel yellow).
The packaging of the Starter kit is truly eco-friendly: it’s all made of paper, and includes a nice set of stickers! It does respect the brand vision, which is creating a 100% vegan razor, good for the planet and the wallet. Another reason to love Estrid is their approach to gender and body hair: “We all have body hair, and what we choose to do with it is up to each and every one of us.”. In fact, their social media are full of people with underarm hair! A great message to spread in 2022.
How to shave
It’s a regular razor but Estrid recommends using it on wet skin. This way, your skin won’t get irritated and the blade will last longer.
They also sell a scrub (Sugar Scrub) and a 2-in-1 cleansing gel & shaving cream (Watermelon Jelly). The latter is really cool: you frictionate across the body area you’d like to shave and it creates a creamy texture!
How to change the blade
So, you buy the handle only once, but you need to change the blades when they stop working. Of course, you need to be careful but it’s easy and safe if you:
1. Press the button to release the old blade
2. Make sure that the new blade has the dark blue strip pointing downward
3. Hold the new blade by the edge (keep it in its plastic cover!)
4. Press the handle down slowly in the center of the blade until it snaps
How to cancel or pause your subscription
I get that subscriptions can be a bit anxiety-inducing but you can easily pause or cancel yours from your Profile (on the Estrid website). It’s not complicated or scammy at all!
How much does everything cost?
The Starter Kit costs 9,95€. The new blades cost 9,95€ for 4 of them.
Where to buy
In Italy, it’s been available at H&M.it since 2021 but both the Starter Kit and the blades and overpriced. Moreover, you don’t get the cool and money-saving subscription thing.
So buy it on Estrid! The website is really well done, user-friendly, clear and all the products are cheap.
