The Bourjois Velvet the Pencil is a creamy lip pencil with a matte finish. Sound right up your street?
Let’s see if it has been a good purchase.
Bourjois Velvet the Pencil review
Formula
The formula is very light, you won’t feel this lipstick on your lips, like not at all. Although it’s very creamy, once it sets it does not transfer nor dry your lips.
In my opinion, it’s very similar to the Nars Velvet Matte lip pencils. The shade “Rouge Di’Vin” is a little brighter than Nars “Cruella” but overall the difference is not super noticeable.
Application
The pencil glides onto lips for an easy application and defines the lip contour smoothly.
You don’t necessarily need a lip pencil with a thinner lead. However, if you are not really good at applying lipsticks, when you put on darker colours you can help yourself with a thinner lip pencil for a precise line.
Price
It costs only 12€ on Amazon. The great price tag is what makes this product a perfect dupe for the popular Nars Velvet Matte lip pencils.
Is Bourjois Velvet the Pencil long-lasting?
As for every lip products, the duration depends on what yo do while you are wearing them. If you don’t eat (or eat non-oily food very carefully) the lipsticks last for many hours, without smudging.
How to sharpen Bourjois Velvet the Pencil
At first, I didn’t understand how to sharpen this pencil, because of the material. You don’t have to twist it, just sharpen it with a big pencil sharpener.
Don’t be afraid, it actually works.
Swatches
You can see the swatches in the pictures above. From left to right, I am wearing: 06 In Mauve Again (pink), 15 Rouge Es-Carmin (true red), 16 Rouge Di’Vin (deep red).
